PREPARING YOUR SKIN BEFORE SUMMER: A NEWCASTLE CLINIC'S SEASONAL GUIDE

Late winter and early spring are the best time to start any course-based skin treatment, not the week before summer arrives. Courses need weeks between sessions to work properly, and less intense sun in the meantime means downtime is far easier to manage.
If you're the type to think about your skin every October and wish you'd started in July, this is the guide for planning ahead properly.
Why timing matters
Many effective skin treatments, from microneedling to peels, are delivered as a course rather than a single session, with several weeks between each one for the skin to respond and recover. Starting in winter or early spring means a full course can be finished well before summer, rather than being rushed or interrupted by long, sun-exposed days. After treatments like SkinPen, skin is more sun-sensitive for a period afterwards, so avoiding strong UV exposure during recovery is simpler when the weather isn't already working against you.
A simple timeline
Right now, through winter and early spring, is the time for a consultation and to start any course of treatments. This might include a course of SkinPen, with or without growth factors, to work on tone, texture or fine lines, or a Healite II LED series to support overall skin health.
Through spring, courses continue, and it's a good time to introduce or refine a medical-grade skincare routine, since new products need weeks to show their effect and are best tested before, not during, high-UV months.
Just before summer, the focus shifts to maintenance and daily protection, with SPF becoming completely non-negotiable as UV intensity rises. Any treatments finishing around this point should be leaving your skin in its best condition heading into the season, not mid-course.
What if you're starting later than planned
Life gets in the way, and not everyone reads this in August. If summer is closer than you'd like, a consultation can still help. We'll be honest about what's realistically achievable in the time available, and adjust the plan rather than promising a result the timeline doesn't support.
What's worth starting now
We're currently running a SkinPen package as part of our winter offer, a course of three SkinPen treatments with growth factors, priced to make starting a course now more accessible. It's a practical entry point if you've been meaning to address tone, texture or fine lines but haven't found the right time. As with any treatment, suitability is confirmed at consultation, and results vary between individuals.
Why we don't rush this
We'd rather talk you through a realistic timeline than sell you something started too late to finish properly. A course begun in November, three weeks before summer, isn't set up to succeed the way the same course begun in August is. Planning ahead is genuinely part of getting a good result, not just a booking preference.
If you want your skin in its best shape by summer, book a consultation now while there's still time to complete a full course properly.
