SKINPEN MICRONEEDLING IN NEWCASTLE
SkinPen microneedling is a collagen induction treatment performed by our Registered Nurses at Kaia Aesthetics, Suite A, 119-121 King Street, Newcastle. It is commonly used for skin texture, the look of enlarged pores, fine lines and acne scarring.
Sessions start at $300. Every treatment begins with a skin assessment to confirm it suits you.
WHAT IS SKINPEN MICRONEEDLING?
Microneedling uses fine needles to create a grid of tiny channels in the skin's surface. The skin treats these as minor injuries and responds by producing new collagen and elastin over the following weeks.
SkinPen Precision is the medical-grade microneedling device we use in clinic. It allows the needle depth to be adjusted for different areas of the face and different skin concerns.

WHO IT MAY SUIT
SkinPen may suit you if you want to improve skin texture and quality gradually, without resurfacing or removing the skin. It is not suitable for everyone. Active acne breakouts, some skin conditions, recent sun damage, pregnancy and certain medications can rule it out. We will check this at your assessment.
WHAT HAPPENS AT YOUR APPOINTMENT

Your Registered Nurse reviews your skin, medical history and goals.

Your skin is cleansed and a topical numbing cream is applied if needed.

The SkinPen treatment itself takes around 30 minutes.

If you have chosen the growth factor option, a growth factor serum is applied during treatment.

Your skin is soothed and you leave with written aftercare.
Allow about one hour in total.
DOWNTIME AND AFTERCARE
Skin usually looks flushed for the rest of the day, similar to mild sunburn, and can feel warm or tight. For most people this settles within 24 to 48 hours.
For the first 24 hours, avoid make-up, exercise, heat and active skincare. Use SPF 50+ daily. Your nurse will give you aftercare specific to your skin.
HOW MANY SESSIONS?
Collagen builds on the skin's own timeline, so a course of sessions spaced several weeks apart generally gives better results than a single treatment. Most patients start with three. Your nurse will recommend a plan at your assessment.

COMBINING TREATMENTS
SkinPen is one part of our Acne, Pigmentation and Problematic Skin Package, together with BioRePeel and Healite II LED therapy. LED is often used after microneedling to support the skin's recovery.
WHO PERFORMS YOUR TREATMENT
All SkinPen treatments at Kaia are performed by AHPRA-registered Registered Nurses. Clinic director Teah Blayden holds a Monash University accreditation in Patient Suitability, Governance, Compliance & Ethics of Non-Surgical Cosmetic Medicine.
SKINPEN MICRONEEDLING FAQS
Does SkinPen microneedling hurt?
Most people describe a light scratching or vibrating sensation. Numbing cream is applied before treatment, so it is generally well tolerated.
How long until I see results?
Some people notice a brighter look within a week. Changes to texture and scarring build over several weeks as new collagen forms, and are usually clearer after a course.
What are growth factors?
A serum containing growth factors, applied during treatment to support the skin's repair response. Your nurse can explain whether it suits your goals.
Can I have microneedling with active acne?
Usually not over active breakouts. Your nurse may suggest treating the active acne first, often with BioRePeel or LED.
How is SkinPen different from at-home dermarollers?
SkinPen is a medical-grade device used by trained clinicians with sterile, single-use needle cartridges and adjustable depth. At-home rollers do not offer the same control.
