WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS AT YOUR FIRST AESTHETIC CONSULTATION

A consultation at Kaia is a genuine clinical assessment, not a sales appointment. You'll spend time talking with a Registered Nurse about your skin, your goals and your medical history, followed by a full-face assessment, before any options are discussed at all.

If the idea of a cosmetic consultation makes you feel like you'll be talked into something, this is what actually happens instead.

Before you arrive

There's no need to prepare anything specific. Arriving with a clean face, without makeup, helps us assess your skin properly, though it's not essential. It's worth thinking beforehand about what's actually bothering you, whether that's a specific concern like pigmentation or texture, or something broader like feeling like you look tired, since that starting point shapes the whole conversation.

Consultation cost and timing

A consultation typically takes around 30 to 45 minutes. If a consultation fee applies, our team will always confirm this when you book, so there are no surprises on the day. Any fee is separate from the cost of treatment itself, which is only ever confirmed after your assessment.

The consultation itself

We'll start by talking, properly. What's brought you in, what you've noticed changing, what you have and haven't tried before, and what matters to you about how you look and feel. This is also where we cover relevant medical history, since that affects what's suitable and what isn't.

The full-face assessment

This is where a Kaia consultation differs from a quick chat about one area of concern. Rather than looking only at the specific thing you mentioned, we assess your whole face, structure, symmetry, skin quality and how everything works together. Often, the thing bothering you connects to something else entirely, and treating only the original concern in isolation rarely gives the most natural result.

Discussing your options

Once we understand your goals and have completed the assessment, we'll talk through what's realistic and how we'd approach it. This includes discussing suitability, our clinical recommendation, and pricing, openly and without pressure. If something isn't suitable for you, we'll say so. Not every concern needs treatment, and not every treatment suits every face.

What happens next

There's no expectation to book anything on the day. Some people book their next appointment straight away, others take time to think it over, and both are completely fine. If you do decide to move ahead, we'll agree on a plan together, rather than starting with a single treatment and hoping the rest follows.

Why we do it this way

A one-size treatment plan is rarely a good treatment plan. The extra time spent on a proper consultation and full-face assessment is what allows for the kind of considered, natural-looking results we're known for, rather than treating a single area without understanding how it sits within the whole face.

If you've been putting off a consultation because you're not sure what to expect, now you know. Book yours today.
