WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING AND HOW DOES SKINPEN WORK

Microneedling works by creating a controlled injury the skin then has to repair.
Fine needles create a grid of micro-channels in the skin's surface. The skin reads this as damage and responds the way it responds to any injury: by increasing collagen and elastin production in the weeks that follow. The results aren't visible on the day. They build gradually, as the skin repairs itself, which is why a course of sessions spaced weeks apart tends to outperform a single treatment.
SkinPen at Kaia
SkinPen is the microneedling device we use in clinic. The appointment runs for about an hour in total, with the needling itself taking around 30 minutes. Sessions can be combined with growth factor infusion, where a serum containing growth factors is applied to the skin during treatment to support the repair process already underway.
What it's generally used for
Microneedling is most commonly used for skin texture, the appearance of enlarged pores, and overall skin quality. It works on the principle of stimulating the skin's own repair response, not resurfacing or removing skin.
What to expect afterwards
Skin typically looks flushed for the rest of the day, similar to mild sunburn, and can feel warm or tight. This settles within 24 to 48 hours for most people, though how your skin responds and how long it takes to settle is individual, and your practitioner will talk you through this at your appointment.
Price and booking
SkinPen is $300 per session, with a three-session bundle available for $850. SkinPen with growth factors infused is $500 per session, with a three-session bundle available for $1,400.
Collagen production happens on the skin's own timeline, not the clinic's. A course gives it the repeated signal it needs to keep working.
